Following her, Jahmal Miller, Chief Administrative Officer of Mercy Medical Group, along with Dr. Pegah Faed, our CEO of Safe & Sound, engaged in a powerful discussion on child abuse prevention, the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) on brain development and toxic stress. And what we can do to help combat ACEs and ways to support children and families in leading healthy lives.

Safe & Sound’s Board of Directors, the Blue Ribbon Host Committee and event co-chairs Farah Makras and P. Wayne Osborne & Gregory R. Price brought together more than 400 of San Francisco’s most dedicated civic leaders, philanthropists, and advocates to the Palace Hotel’s Grand Ballroom on Friday, October 17th for their annual Blue Ribbon Celebration event. This year’s theme, “Blue Skies of Hope”, perfectly captured the spirit of the evening — one of optimism, compassion, and collective action to ensure every child grows up safe, supported, and loved.

The Russian River Ride is a three-day, 200-mile journey from San Francisco to the Russian River and back, led by a dedicated team of cyclists riding for children and families. Each mile fuels Safe & Sound’s programs that provide safety, healing, and hope — and your donation helps power their impact. The 2025 event took place from October 3-5; our heartfelt thanks to our riders and their supporters.

On April 30th our playroom was converted into a theater for the night, to host the culmination of our special collaboration with The Moth. Three chosen storytellers who took part in our exclusive workshop delivered their story on stage, without notes, at an intimate storytelling event of invited guests. It was an exhilarating, inspiring event where we learnt more about ourselves and each other.
