Malcolm Gaines, Psy.D., is a clinical psychologist and currently serves as the Senior Clinical Projects Director at Safe & Sound. He has been with the organization for fifteen years, and has also served as Clinical Director and Director of Intern Training there. Together with his colleagues, Dr. Gaines designed Integrated Family Services at the Center in response to the need for an outcome-focused, data-informed, strength-based model of promoting protective factors in high-risk families. He is a contributor to “The Case for Prevention: A Two-Generation Approach to Ending Child Abuse,” in Two Generations. One Future: An Anthology from the Ascend Fellowship, published by the Aspen Institute. His clinical interests include resilience, childhood trauma, adoption, parenting and attachment, and children of divorce. He received his doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology, and he maintains a psychotherapy practice in San Francisco, where he has worked with children and families since 2002.
