Community Engagement is less a strategy and more the Safe and Sound Campaign's reason for being.
Our premise is that all children in our community should have the opportunity to grow up safe, healthy and valued. We are working through the citywide strategies to secure the wellbeing of Baltimore's children in a predictable, systematic way. After years of diligent collaborative work and significant public and private investment, a system of accountability for children's outcomes in Baltimore is in place. The system is working — more than 26,000 children and families have been served and measurable improvements have been achieved.
The Campaign's community engagement work is focused on making sure Baltimore residents know this system exists, and that they use their voices and influence to see it sustained and expanded. Through our efforts we hope to catalyze a clarion call from city residents for public policy and public resources that support this new, accountable way of doing business where children and families are concerned.
