READING BY NINE

The Reading by Nine Strategy is designed to:

  • Support the Baltimore City Public School System in implementing the recommendations of its Reading By Nine Task Force, which includes school-based strategies to improve reading skill development for students in the early grades.

  • Work with the After School Strategy and The After-School Institute to improve the quantity and quality of reading-infused activities provided after-school.

  • Work with the Family Support / Success By 6® Strategy to expand and strengthen literacy and language skill development approaches for children ages 0-6.

  • Work in partnership with key organizations on a proposed citywide messaging campaign to engage families and community members in supporting learning.
