Stop the New Youth Jail in Baltimore:                                                        A May 2011 report by the National Council on Crime and Delinquency shows the proposed $100 million facility for youth charged as adults in Baltimore isn't needed and; instead, the state should take steps to divert young people from incarceration. A recent Sun Papers op-ed ("Don't build a new youth jail in Baltimore", May 23) demonstrates how this can be done now.

Please ask the Governor to take the recommended steps to divert young people from incarceration and into the opportunities that promote their future success.
