Kate Frankfurt

Senior Philanthropy Officer

Kate joined Safe & Sound in 2013, after serving as the Capital Campaign Director for the San Francisco Zen Center, where she successfully structured the largest fundraising effort in the organization’s history.  Prior to that, Kate served as an Advocate in the Children’s Rights Division of Human Rights Watch focusing on issues related to foster care, juvenile justice and education.  Originally from New York City, Kate attended Kenyon College where she received a BA in Theatre, followed by a Master’s in Social Work from Hunter College and post-graduate institute training in Family Systems Therapy at the Ackerman Institute in New York.  She moved to the Bay Area from New York in 2002 and is happy to call Oakland her home.  She can be found hiking the East Bay Regional Parks with her dog, or with her two boys in the woods, on beaches and the Tahoe ski slopes.
